Compute Units

Algomim uses Compute Units (CUs) as a unified currency for all AI operations. Your subscription plan includes a monthly CU allowance that resets on the 1st of each month.

How CUs Work

Every interaction with the AI consumes CUs. The amount depends on two factors:
  1. Message length: Longer conversations and responses use more CUs
  2. Model multiplier: More capable models cost more CUs per token

Checking Your Usage

You can check your current CU usage and remaining balance in the Algomim web app:
  1. Click your profile avatar in the bottom-left corner
  2. Go to Settings → Billing
  3. Your current usage and remaining CUs are displayed

Optimizing CU Usage

Use 1x models (Flash/Mini) for simple queries and straightforward operations. Switch to 3x models (Sonnet/Pro) only when you need complex reasoning or code generation.
Clear, specific prompts reduce back-and-forth conversation, saving CUs. See Writing Effective Prompts.
Long conversations accumulate context, increasing CU usage per message. Start a fresh chat when switching to a different task.

Monthly Reset

Your CU allowance resets on the 1st of each month at midnight UTC. Unused CUs do not roll over to the next month.

What Happens When CUs Run Out

When you’ve used all your monthly CUs:
  • You won’t be able to send new messages until the next reset
  • Your existing chats and data remain accessible
  • You can upgrade your plan or wait for the monthly reset
Monitor your usage regularly in Settings to avoid running out of CUs mid-month.
