Connecting Your Software

Algomim uses a PIN-based connection system to securely link your design software to the chat interface. This page explains how the connection works and how to manage it.

How It Works

Connecting

1

Open the web app

Go to chat.algomim.com and open a chat.
2

Generate a PIN

Click the Connect button (plug icon) in the chat header. A 6-digit PIN appears.
3

Enter the PIN in your software

In your design software, run the Algomim connect command and enter the PIN:
  • Revit: Algomim tab → Connect
  • AutoCAD: ALGOMIM command
  • Rhino: Algomim command
4

Confirm

The web app shows your software as connected. The connection status indicator turns green.
PINs expire after 5 minutes. If your PIN expires, simply generate a new one.

Multiple Connections

You can connect multiple software instances simultaneously. For example:
  • Connect both Revit and Rhino to the same chat
  • Connect multiple Revit instances (different projects)
Each connection appears in the chat header, and you can direct commands to a specific application.

Disconnecting

To disconnect your software:
  • From the plugin: Use the disconnect command in your software
    • Revit: Algomim tab → Disconnect
    • AutoCAD: ALGODISC command
    • Rhino: AlgomimDisconnect command
  • From the web app: Click the connected plugin indicator and select Disconnect

Connection Security

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted WebSocket (WSS) connections
  • PINs are single-use and expire after 5 minutes
  • No permanent credentials are stored on your machine
  • The connection is session-based — closing the web app or the software ends the session
The connection requires an active internet connection on both the machine running your design software and the browser running the web app.

Troubleshooting

Generate a new PIN from the web app. The process takes only a few seconds.
  • Check your internet connection stability
  • Ensure your firewall allows outbound WebSocket connections
  • Try connecting from a different network if possible
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting with a new PIN
  • Make sure you have a document/drawing/model open in your software
  • Check that the correct application is targeted in the chat
